Why Do we Need TA?
Thalassaemia
Australia (TA)
focuses on the promotion, knowledge and understanding of haemoglobin conditions
through community based education and awareness programs. We aim towards continuous improvement, community
development and capacity building in order to empower members and individuals
to make informed decisions regarding their future and the future of children.
TA
provides community education, advocacy, support and awareness of thalassaemia
and haemoglobin conditions to the Victorian community, health consumers and
health representatives. With a new
'national focus' TA will work towards developing nationally distributed
information and education material and develop collaborative projects bringing
all states in line with common goals and aspirations.
TA
has been greatly supported by teams of professional employees and dedicated
volunteers on the committee of management and in the office for over 30 years
now. Without a coordinated effort form
all those involved, full time and part time, we would not have achieved our
goals and moved toward a national outlook.
Thalasaemia today is a widely recognised word and condition and is
viewed with a greater sense of understanding.
It is with a positive outlook and posterity that we move forward and
continue our much needed work.
